What Members Thought

I always wanted to sit down and read this book, but I struggled to make time for it until I bought a copy and left it next to my bed and I slowly made my way through it, some parts made me laugh some made me cry but ultimately it was worth making the time for this book and I'm glad I can say I have read it.

First read in 2005 - I decided to do a re-reading ten years later, and since I loved the book at the first reading, I am glad to discover that its charm is not gone, at least for me, and the book is still capable of evoking strong emotions, though of course there were bits which I found boring, but also some that I have totally forgotten and therefore could read them as if they were new, especially stuff in the Appendices.

I can't believe I avoided this book for so long. The way Tolkien developed the characters and history of middle earth kept me turning the pages. Lots to think about with the religious symbolism weaved in throughout the story. Enjoyed reading the appendices and studying the maps and Frodo's family tree.
