I love this story, of course, and it was made even better by the beautiful 50th Anniversary edition Trevor got me for my birthday. The maps were wonderful along with the entire presentation!

My favourite work of fiction. I think I have read it 4 times now. This last time, I tried to read it slow, to soak in the depth a bit more. I tried to tune in to all the echoes/metaphors throughout the book -- I love the way Tolkien tells such an epic story, and it makes me appreciate the epic adventure that life in light of the gospel is. There are echoes of Jesus -- and the epic story of God working within this world -- all through the book.

This is my up teeth time reading it. Everytimr a new wrinkle is evident, this is what I love on these books. While the movies are generally fsithful, there are parts that are neglected due to the movie length, like the fight for the Shire with Saruman and his men. A must read!
