This is a beautiful story. It's very well done. There's a pilot and a mechanic and they are living through hell and finding hope and love regardless. This is short, but so full and so rich. ...more

A quiet book, despite the bomb blasts of the war. But one that makes itself heard. Wistful, almost poetic - and utterly beautiful.

So short yet so full of feeling and pathos. 2 men who should be worlds apart. Can they find solace and love with each other or will the end of WWII and the defeat of German tear them apart. I usually want more when I read a good short story, but this story was as near perfect as possible. A beautiful & touching view of a horrible time.

The research was amazing. I look forward to the novel also based on this research. Aleksandr Voinov is an amazing writer.
