What a pleasant surprise! I haven’t read this author since the writing style on display in his first book (Bear, Otter, and the Kid) turned me off completely. Tedious, is how I described it in my notes. But this is a totally different animal. Sweet and charming. And he writes the children exceptionally well (which was *not* the case for the Kid). Thoroughly enjoyed it. Now which of his books are like this one and which are like Bear?? Hmm…

A big surprise I loved this book. It caught your interest from the start and after the children were add you can’t not read.
I listened to the audio version on a trip and it was well read.
The surprise was this was a sweet love story on many levels. the story is about right and wrong and stepping out of your comfort zone to change some thing that is wrong.

I felt that the backstory could have been fleshed out some more. I also found the story very, very predictable.

Got my copy from Overdrive courtesy of my public library.

Apparently, I liked the blurb so much I also requested and received a copy from
