08/04/2022: Reread on audiobook!

I can't believe that I never left a review the first time that I read this. This book was abso-freaking-lutely fantastic! It was mesmerizing from the very first page. I was totally engrossed in the story. I love Meyer's writing style and her storytelling is fantastic. I loved the plot twists and the interesting way that the author orchestrated this unique retelling of Cinderella. The parallels were really exciting to see unfold. I haven't read any adaptations that I can remember at the moment, but even if I did, this would be the best one. All I can say is-Wow.

Every element of the classic story was there and even though I could see what was going to happen, it was delivered so well that I didn't care. Some would say that the ending was a cliffhanger. Being that the series is continuing, I feel more like it was 'chapter' to the story and didn't feel like a cliffhanger (which you know I hate with the heat of 1000 suns).

Interesting premise and I realize that its a YA book but I felt the 'foreshadowing' was a bit like an 24 piece puzzle. Yeah, you need to use your brain to put it together but it doesn't take very long to do. I figured out who and what she was less than a quarter into the book.

I may read the next one but I'm in no rush, even with the cliffhanger ending.
