I really wanted to love this book but too many things stopped me from that.
What I liked:
* Supporting characters - I loved Carwyn (I might check to see if he gets his own book), and grandmother Isadora and Caspar.
* Semi-new spin on vampires
What could have been better:
* There was a lot of talk about Beatrice being strong, but a lot of action of her in tears or avoiding unpleasant conversations, etc. So she came across as weak to me and I didn't really like her once we got to know her.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters Beatrice and Giovanni were well written and fleshed out. There were interesting side characters as well. The story moved well at a nice pace. There wasn’t any places where you began to feel bogged down. There was a little mystery, a little Romance and fun witty humor. I liked the way Gio’s back story was weaved into everything.
