So I can fairly definitively say that the inevitable demise of the Anita Blake Series started much much earlier than I remembered. Before my re-read, I would have guessed book 9. But it was in book 4 that Anita made the decision to date Jean Claude which was her first step towards the dark side. In this book, she continues further down that path.

How much of this is influenced by Jean-Claude and his ardeur? And how much is Anita fighting against her generally repressed life she's lived thus far?
