Book 2 in the Peter Grant urban fantasy series. Gosh I love this guy! If he was real he would be the kind of guy that made you feel instantly safe. He's not just a detective and a wielder of magic but a Protector.
Still enjoying the settings in and around London. This would have to be the best London setting I've ever read. It's definitely a character in its own right and the author describes it lovingly, humorously and sarcastically by turns. The police procedural parts are detailed and clear ...more

It’s the narrator of the audiobooks that has me coming back for more with these stories. He does such a wonderful job & good grief I just love his voice.
The wizards in this story are much more interesting (to me) than another wizard series I’ve been dredging through.
I’m rather invested in this series because I want to find out if magic really can fix what magic destroyed. I sure hope so.

Im really enjoying these books. Very very very London.
I really like Peter specially too. He is intelligent and analytical and even when making mistakes, he makes no excuses even for himself. He evaluates things and tries to understand magic form a scientific point of view.
Very refreshing.

The first one was amazing, this one decidedly less so. There were two huge things I hated about this one. *spoiler alert*
1. He sleeps with Simone. Why? He already knew she was a tramp who slept with another woman's fiance. Why on earth would anyone want to be involved with someone like that? Ugh.
2. Leslie magically does magic at the end! Look at how amazing she is! No. The reason I liked her before is because she was a perfect complement to Peter's skill set. He had his magic and out-of-the-box ...more
