She's been on the top of the list with a few others for a very long time. And yes, I am truly devoted to her, reading every installment added to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

For this installment, I'm not sure what I feel. Is it possible to just feel neutral after reading a book? This novel didn't wow me, nor did it have the opposite effect on me. And I am truly sad that I feel this way towards one of my favorite authors.

Recen Let me just say that J.R. Ward is one of my favorite authors. She's been on the top of the list with a few others for a very long time. And yes, I am truly devoted to her, reading every installment added to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

For this installment, I'm not sure what I feel. Is it possible to just feel neutral after reading a book? This novel didn't wow me, nor did it have the opposite effect on me. And I am truly sad that I feel this way towards one of my favorite authors.

Recently, I feel like the last two perhaps three BDB novels lost its original, true structure that makes up the BDB novels. Why? It may be just me, but I feel like the main couples of the recent BDB novels are being overshadowed by many other characters and subplots. For me, Lover Reborn should have just been about Tohr and No'One. But there are so many other things happening that strayed me from the main romance. If I must say it, I think it's unfair that Tohr and No'One have little scenes in their own book. They were constantly being overshadowed by Xhex, John, Qhuinn, Xcor, and more. Coincidentally, that rhymed. It felt like I had to savor and cherish every Tohr and No'One scenes because there won't be anymore until later. For me, that just kind of blows. :/

Okay, now that I've gotten that off my chest, I'll just speak strictly of Tohr and No'One. I adore the couple a lot. Tohr's heartbreak and suffering invoked tears in me, and I don't normally get teary for books. Tohr has this constant internal warring with himself as he also grieves for his wife. Wellsie was his everything and to have her ripped away from him, is torture. Tohr's continued suffering only delays Wellsie's eternal peace. And it's Lassiter's job to help Tohr re-live again to free his dead mate. This is also where No'One comes in. She is a kind, giving, and compassionate female who lives in the shadow, intrigued by Tohr. And together they struggle to find love and balance. I respect the hell of No'One. What an unselfish female she is to Tohr, wanting nothing that Tohr couldn't give. She gave him his space and his time. And the two of them complete each other.

So...where to go from here? I will definitely be looking forward to the next installment although I'm not entirely fond of the Blay and Qhuinn's love story. I'm sorry I couldn't get into it. I'm anticipating for the subplots (I know I ranted of that above but...) to unfold. Xcor is really starting to intrigue me.

Not entirely 4 stars, but about 3.6. It was a good and interesting read for me. ...more

This book seemed to pick up right after Lover Mine with nothing in between. Other than Manny being at the house, I never felt like I was missing anything.

I really felt for Tohr throughout this book. The guy just couldn't seem to get a break. All he wanted to do was be faithful to his (dead) shellan but in doing that he was slowly giving her something that was worth than the death she already had.
I still, after finishing the book, am not sure about No'One/Autumn. I like her but never felt any connection to her. That's not to say I did not like them together, I'm just indifferent to it. I was glad when Tohr gave her a new real name since she did not want to be called by the previous name he knew her by.
The last scenes were some of my favorites. From Tohr finally clicking and figuring out that act of sex was not him moving on, to the Fade ceremony and consequent reactions. Autumn's issue didn't really click for me until I read it, then it made perfect sense.
Lassiter is one of my favorite side characters and we got plenty of him and it just made me want more. I was glad when he showed up with dinner at the end.
The background stories were just that for me. While I don't like any at the moment, I found the BoB interesting. I actually like Xcor more than Throe but want to get to know all of them better. The complications of anything between Xcor and Layla adds another dimension to the battle between this group and the brotherhood.
John and Xhex. The drama between them just wasn't needed for me. I understood the parallels that were being drawn but didn't need them to add to the drama of Tohr's stroy. I was glad when it came to some kind of ending but feel like it may keep coming up.
Quinn and Blay. This is the real reason I read this book. I want to read the next one and felt I would be too lost missing the two books before it.

Let me start by saying that I have enjoyed seeing Tohr's story unfold over the course of the series thus far. That being said, I really liked this book, but felt like it dragged a bit too much. There were parts I absolutely LOVED...and there were parts I was really frustrated with. Overall, however, I think the story stayed true to the path Tohr was on and I was very pleased with how the story wrapped up. On a complete side note...what was with the constant description of Jane/Manny's doctor bag ...more
