I have to admit for some reason I wasn't expecting too much out of Nicko's book, but I was very happy with the end result. The overall plot didn't really move forward too much (we are more focused on the couple in this story). I really liked the female lead, Renata, probably one of my top picks out of all the Breedmates in the series so far. This is Nikolai's 'Niko' book, he goes to Montreal to seek out a Gen One Sergei Yakut and it's there he meets Sergei's bodyguard Renata a breedmate who has the ability to render vampires unconsciouss with her psychic ability but suffers severe after-effects.
Renata cares for a young eight year old breedmate Mira who's eyes reflect the future both of them are pretty much Sergei's prisoners and threatens to kill either one if they attempt to leave him.

3.5 Stars. Don't know why I didn't like this as much as the first 4 books. It seemed to be missing something. & I don't feel the connection between Niko and Renata for some reasons. :-(
