Harry Dresden Fan Art ~ by thegryph (Nicole Cardiff)

★★★★½ I love Harry Dresden. I love his duster, his blasting rod and staff, his shield bracelet and force rings, his mother’s silver pentacle amulet, and the way he keeps upgrading these - just like we all do with the technological toys that make our life easier. I love the way he talks about magic, and I love the way he combines elements to create his magic. I know, I should quit gushing and get to the storyline, but he’s just so loveable, even ...more

3.5 Stars easy, but not 4. Harry has got to STOP blaming himself for EVERYTHING! Everything is not his fault & he harped on it a lot this book. Hopefully that calms down soon. Still a great series so far.
Re-read 6-15-22
Starting this series over on Audiobook. Don’t remember it much, so here goes with book 2.
Still feel the same as above with Harry blaming himself for everything.

I didn’t like this book as much as the first. It was a bit convoluted for me. I missed Murphy since she wasn’t a huge part of the story and Bob, because who doesn’t love a spirit inside a skull! The basis of the werewolf story worked for me, but the execution was off. I will say, though, the last chapters were excellent…loved seeing Harry in his magical element!

Jim Butcher is an amazing author. The main character, Dresden, makes me laugh out loud sometimes. The books in this series are innovative and spine tingling fun. No my usual read, but definately on my TBR list from now on.
Can't wait for the next one in the series.
