Initial thoughts: Damn Moning's cliffhangers¹! Augh. I liked the return to Mac & Barrons. Surprisingly, I found that I actually missed Dani. But, I LOVED learning more about the others while Mac was "exploring".

The inclusion of the The Alpha Alternative: JZB Sex Scene (freebie scene KMM wrote/recorded for fans in 2011) was unexpected, but appreciated (do so love Barrons' growl).

I had forgotten that this book had multiple povs, which I loved, and that it was the return of Mac's pov after being in Dani's head for the previous book.

Every time I read these books, I just want more, more, more. It satisfies, while also leaving me wanting.

This book picks up where the other ended: with a much-anticipated confrontation. Things don't go as expected for either party, and someone ends up somewhere they shouldn't.

Then we have the arrival of new sidhe-seers, and Mac getting back in action after being inactive, with her groupies following her around (who evidently smell bad and makes her smell bad, lol and they have a bit of mystery surrounding them). Kat is having an existential crisis. And my favorite of all is Lor and his situation (after he gets help).

I didn't realize how much I missed Mac's pov until I got it again. I absolutely love this chick!!

At first I wasn't sure if going back to her pov would throw the story as a whole off or not, but I understand the method to Ms. Moning's madness. (The woman is brilliant). We definitely needed this to segue from Dani's arc in the series to what's to come and then go back to Dani and beyond.

It may seem to some that not much happened in this story, but so many avenues were opened that I didn't see or maybe even want to know before diving into this gem. I was at the point where I was thinking I was ready to get out of this world and away from the characters (which is why I'm just now getting back into the series after being a devoted fan from the beginning), but I was so wrong.

I want to see everyone get their own story or at least more details about them on updates about everyone else. I am now a greedy, greedy reader. All of the nine,Kat, and the rest of the sidhe seers, Christian, and the rest of the Keltars, etc....

This book has reinvigorated me to jump back into this series with gusto.

No, I'm not saying anything about what actually happened in the story. It's hard to do that and not give anything away. I will say that this book is multiple povs, and we even get a glimpse into Barrons' head. ...more

OH. MY. GOSH. I waited nearly 3 years for the book and finished it within 10 hours! That was amazing, and it was definitely something else. KMM did not disappoint.

Dani is awesome. I wish the story was told mostly from her, but I guess in a Mac view, it worked somewhat.
As for Ryodan... that hot beast will be the death of me. How can a fictional character be so darn hot!?!?

I love the entire series and that's the main reason for the 4 or 5 stars (still undecided) If I was being honest I would give a 3.5 but like I said, I'm addicted to the series. Because I would read anything that has to do with these characters.
However this book has been light on the action unlike the others. I've just finished it and the only main event I can think of off the top of my head is the rescuing plot.
Other than that, I still think Jo is an idiot and makes the worst decisions ever.

I have to say...I missed Mac and Jericho! It was awesome to have them front and center again. My chief complaint is that there seemed to be some parts that just dragged. Overall though, I loved the new twists and turns and can't believe I have to wait so long for the next installment! ...more

I enjoyed this, Barrons was really growly and quite sexy. Mac was a bit whiny though.

I hope she eventually does a scene from a later book though, cause lets face it Barrons gets sexier with every book :)
