I really liked this book. I enjoyed almost every moment. Our heroine Eugenie commutes between the human world working as a shaman and the Otherworld as the Thorn Queen. Eugenie has grown and developed as a character. She genuinely cares about her kingdom and tries to work out ways for her subjects to be able to survive in the new arid lands. Eugenie is back with Kiyo and trying to avoid being Queen of a land in the Otherworld. But her responsibilities get to her and she starts doing what is needed for her people. She finds out girls are being abducted from remote villages and determines to find the cause and stop it. She has a new suitor this time, Leith, a prince from a neighboring kingdom whose magic is weak but mind is not.
