So this book picks up shortly after the first, with Mac recovering from her injuries. The policeman looking at her sisters death mysteriously dies and a fellow officer (his brother-in-law) starts watching her. The brother of the gangster she killed drops in as well, as does her father. She also appears to have her own personal grim reaper following her where-ever she goes.

Another FINISHED urban fantasy and it is a good one. I am in the 3rd book only, but I knew from the first paragraph of the first book this one would keep me up at night (reading). Well written, well developed,intriguing characters who, despite Moning's "romances with Highlanders" books and the cover design which has nothing to do with the book, do NOT jump into bed with everyone. omg this book is the best .
it just sucks you in for the ride. all you can do is sit down, shut up and hang on!
I have mentioned several times that I don't like cliffhangers. this one was like a scene cut off. it made me grr big time!
luckily I had anticipated this and got the next 2 books in the series from the library.
which made me happier.
I plan to review these books properly after I have read a few. ...more

I really enjoyed this second installment of this vastly popular fever series. Finally, some questions answered and some more to reveal. The main character is quickly developing a backbone with new and different priorities. I have to admit, some of it was painful to read, but necessary to the storyline. much better than the first book. I really am enjoying discovering how Mac is changing over time and all the other people(?) involved in this story. I like the addition of the journal and glossary of terms.
