3/2/20: So I've been listening to these on audiobook with the idea of finishing up this series (I originally stopped on #8. But I'm so bored, and I honestly couldn't care less what happens in the rest of the series. I gave it a try, but I am officially giving up on this series.

I REALLY liked this book! I have been a fan of the Chicagoland Vampire novels for a while now so I was really looking forward to this especially after the last few books gave us quite a few shocks.
Merit is back as her kick ass self and has to deal with her best friend Mallory who has gone to the dark witchy side and causes a problem of epic proportions. Merit and the gang have never seen anything like it so it makes for a whirlwind ride.
Merit has really developed as a character during the serie ...more

Biting Cold is book 6 in the Chicagoland Vampire series, the series started off really strong, with the man character Merit being attacked on her university campus and as a result she was changed into a vampire against her will. Vampires are out in the open, living amongst humans and divided into houses that resemble fraternities, Merit is a strong female that often hides behind her sarcastic wit & sharp tongue, she always manages to get herself ito the thick of whatever is going on. So I had to start the book over because my copy grew a pair of legs and walked off. Lo' and behold I found it again. Yay! Anyhow so far halfway into it and I'm bored. Yes the series has been really good so far, but I think I'm just waiting for that one thing to come along and blow me out of the water. So far it hasn't happened.

Oh so there it is...!
It's starting to get better. I'm really reminded of the snow scene with Simon from the Magic Bleeds series. Interesting I'm getting the same deja vu' ...more

It's more of a 4.5, Chloe Neill didn't disappoint. I'm finding this series is really starting to build to something. Ethan and Merit are starting to gel as a couple, it took a long time but I like the way that it is going. The over all story was more of a wrap up from the one before it wasn't bad you discover what Seth Tate really is and that was interesting. Then there is the whole mess with the GP, but it's almost as if I knew that they would do what they did in the end. The whole upper elite ...more

First of all, I really liked the book. I need to say that before I get on with the negative stuff. I never forgave the plot twist that killed off the main character. The plot twist that magically brought that character back did not placate me, it just irritated me. Of course they ride off into the sunset together and live happily ever after- How do I feel about that? Very mixed feelings- I do like the romance- I like romances and I like HEA. But, I would have liked actually to see Merit pick up ...more
