Currently Reading 2012
Lol!I seem to be having trouble finishing a book lately but
is looking promising - nearly done now since I need to return it to the library tomorrow! :)
I've read two books so far for 2012 -
and
. The first was ok, if a little bit sad. The second was a total disappointment and I even ranted a bit in my review. So, 2012 is not off to that good a start. BUT! I've started
which has started very strongly (I loved the first book) and buddy reading
which I'm hoping I'll end up liking.
It's OK Sandra. I still haven't gotten used to the fact that it is 2012 yet. Wrong dates, wrong mentions etc. It's so embarrassing :(Sandra wrote: "* Shush, a couple of days late, don't tell anyone*
LOL. Go for it. Tell us all the good ones and the bad ones too."
Same here on dates...ugh! I'm savoring
, but also reading Vampire Academy...realized my library e-books (
&
) are about to expire! One done, second halfway through...then back to Ares!!!
So far I've read
, which was a great treat! and because I wasn't paying attention
, must of been the lure of the cover. Also listened to
on audio, can't believe this is the final book of the series.Currently working thru a very steamy
...
I'm also supposed to be reading
but I couldn't stop listening to
, which I started yesterday. Also, something really weird happened to the audiobook of
, which I had been listening. The first love scene is missing! (I checked it on Google Books and there was definitely not a fade to black.)
I just finished
. At one chapter in, I didn't think I'd really like it. But it surprised me and in the end I really enjoyed it.
I am currently listening to the glorious James Marsters read
in the car, reading
in hardcover, and
(what can I say, it's free from the library) on the e-reader at the gym. All three are from my library so I am still good for my check book balance!
Yay Christine, I've got that one to read this month too, glad you ended up liking it.Go Heather!
I'm reading
and enjoying it immensely.
Oh...I can't wait to get there! I've got
on my list this month!I'm reading
(DTB),
(e) and listening to
. I generally hate doing more than one at a time, but they're all different forms, and very different styles, so it's weird but fun...
Sandra, I'm hoping to finally start
by the end of this month. I'm glad to hear the later books are good.
Christine, #5 is the big fight book so I'm savouring it :DI can't help wondering what she's gonna write about in the next 2 books? LOL
It took two months to get it from the library because the wait list was so long. I hope that's a good sign, but then I haven't had the best of luck lately with books other people raved about. I'll definitely let you know.
Currently working my way through all of Jordan Castillo Price's backlist. 2012 is going to be a m/m year, I feel it in my bones.
@Heather: Spike does audiobooks? *drool*

Currently working on
. Read a couple of Kindle freebies this week
and the dillusionist and kisune short stories from
.Also finished
on audio, I really enjoy the Jane Yellowrock series, so much going on... And still not sure where the next one will start off or head. Anyone read the short cat tales stories yet?
I'm reading
by Jana Oliver in paperback,
by Syd Moore on Google Books app on my cell phone and
by Becca Fitzpatrick in hardback
I am listening to the audio of
and I am also looking at the pictures (it is heavily illustrated) in the print version. And I am reading
@Sandra: That reminds me, I have to catch up with that series! I'm looking forward to reading about Vlad this year - not long now :)I've been on a mad read today of basically all of the free short stories on my Kindle. As always some of them were really good, others not so much.
and currently reading
Happy new year, SOSI have just finished listening to
(2 stars) and now I'll be listening to
.I recently had a surgery in my eyes, so no reading for me yet. Thank god for the audiobooks

What did you think of Questing Beast, Josie? I've got it as well but I'm feeling really lazy about reading it for some reason.

Erm well I hate to say this but I didn't really enjoy it all that much. Struck me as kind of... pointless I suppose, with too much technical jargon that you're never going to know the meaning of. It picked up nearer the end and it's really short so if you do read it, it won't take very long at all :)

Yeah I thought as much. I wasn't getting very good vibes from it. Ah well. Thanks for the heads-up!

currently starting the final book in the As the World Dies trilogy by Rhiannon Frater ...I was totally hooked from the first chapter of the first book and i'm a lil bummed it will be over soon :( lol
Currently Reading:
From what I've heard, this novel is set up in 5 parts. The first three are prequels for some of the heroes & their heroines. The 4th is about how they met & the 5th is set in the present at their "club". So far, so good. Especially at $0.99
Finally got my hand on
. The cover is hideous! I do not know why they change the beautiful style...hoping the story did not suffer.

The cover on the first one was what got me to pick it up in the first place. But these last two just don't work for me. Too cartoonish or something. They don't do justice to the quality of the writing inside.
I agree. They remind me of the Kitty Kat covers and whilst they work for them, being scifirom, they don't work for the demons.
Lol. Right you are. I'm not finished with the book yet but there is a tentacle-like scene in the book. Nothing scifi R-rated....but I still think the cover art is not a good idea.

Yesterday I decided to re-read
instead for the Psy-Changeling challenge :) Just as good as always, in fact probably better :D
Currently reading The Mortal Instruments Series in audio: I am on
. On an unrelated to the group note I am also slowly reading
on my Kindle Fire and am happy to finally by reading Oscar Wilde. I like it so far it is just a different type of writing than what I am used to.
I finished
. I just adored this book. But it's probably not for everyone. It's not fast-paced and action-packed in the way that many UF and PNR are. Even the romance isn't handled like a typical romance novel as the main characters spend most of their time physically distant from one another. I think the description of the books makes it sound a bit more action adventure than it is. I mean "a fierce competition" between two young magicians? There is none of the Harry Potteresque spell-slinging that you might expect from that description. But I was captivated by the imagery and the mood of the story and found myself on the edge of my seat near the end, holding my breath waiting to see what would become of these characters and their circus.

I still can't get into Dickens (urgh!) and Melville is never going to happen. EV-ER. Wilde has got some fun quotes...I think he would have been an entertaining guy to know back in the day.
I hope you like PoDG!
