You know what the problem is when a book gets a lot of hype? Then it's very hard for it to live up to the larger than life expectations!

This is a good, solid paranormal romance but I'm not sure if my feelings toward this book are from the expectations or that it was just ok. Don't get me wrong, I do like the story, I like the world, and I LOVE DRAGOS .

FINALLY.

That was my reaction about a third of the way into the book --> Finally, it looks as though I have found a series that a) branches away from the typical vampire/werewolf plot line that permeates the genre and b) is written in a style that doesn't irritate the crap out of me.

4.5 for me. I love it. First 3 chapters were little slow, then it took off from there. Miss Thea did a really good job with this book. Short and sweet!

I fell in love with Pia and Dragos right away. Pia was really likable yet strong and independent while Dragos was so (primitively) charming, in his own right. Loved their connection and attractions. Loved the world building, reality and the Other world, the sentinels. Can’t wait to read all of their stories.

This was a pleasant read. I did think the first half dragged before picking up. Pia was hilarious, smart, compassionate. Dragos was an alpha (but not an alpha-hole) and was likable. I enjoyed learning what type of Wyr Pia was. This also has a strong cast of supporting characters. (Some (all?) of whom get their own book.)
