Refreshing to read about a heroine who is not an ass kicking alpha female, but a girl who has had traumas and is a bottom feeder in the werewolf pecking order.
Interesting concept with her being a DJ. I admired her growth over the book. I really liked T.J and I hope that Kitty can take care of Carl and Meg soon. The end of the book was sort of abrubt with Kitty on the run and nothing was really resolved. Cormac is interesting. I'll probably keep reading the series, but I have others ahead before ...more

Shelves: urban-fantasy

This is one of those books I think I would have rated much higher if I had read it a decade or so ago. It is excellent urban fantasy but - for a 2019 reader - it has a lot of tropes that just really didn't age well. Specifically, the significant amount of sexual abuse and the rape scene. Unfortunately, this was something we were rather accustomed to in the mid-00s but now feels really unnecessary.
