Kitty and the Midnight Hour is our first look into the life of Kitty Norville. She's a were who can shift at any time, however prefers to only shift when necessary - on the night of the full moon. In her world, shifting outside of the full moon can lead to becoming more wolf than wo/man and she's not about to let that happen.

I read Carrie Vaughn's blog entries on Genreality and decided to give her urban fantasy novel a try. I've been a little burned out on urban fantasy of late and have been reading a lot of horror instead. But I have heard a lot of good things about this series, so I grabbed up the first novel.
I'll be honest. I wasn't too keen on the first half of the book (that may be due to my burnout on the genre). But I kept reading and I'm so glad I did. By the end, I was cheering Kitty on and definitely engag ...more

At the beginning of the series I really loved it, but due to what happens in Kitty Takes A Holiday has rather dampened my liking for the series as a whole.
This was really one of those break through series, and the growth that the characters go through simply put is impressive. The main character goes from weak and run over to willing to stand up for herself.
With the first book I feel that the ending was to premature, and didn't feel that there was any resolution to the problem. ...more

I dont normally ready first person books, but this was recommended and I decided to tough it out. I was engrossed with the book after the first chapter loving how each character was molded throughout. I recommend if someone doesn't want a completely serious read. Finished the book in one night.

It started out interesting but I wasn't real fond of the main character. As the story progressed, I could see her growth and she grew on me as well. I figured out the identity of the big bad wolf about three chapters before the protagonist did. It's a series and I'm happy to read the next book.

I loved this book! I am not sure why I waited so long to read this series but I devoured it! On to the next one.
