Defiance "Dephne" Dayne

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand it kept me intrigued enough to continue, but on the other it had me scratching my head.

I think I spent too much time comparing Defiance to Charley from Ms. Jones other series (and the writing, because that series was a hoot).

Defiance just didn't seem like a woman who is in her 40s. Had I not know how old she was, her choices would have made me think of her as someone just starting out in life with no life experience ...more

This was heading for 2 stars, which is surprising cause I like Darynda Jones, however, the h Defiance, was a pitiful creature for the first half of the book, whining, stupid, and acting like a desperate teen when she's supposed to be 44 and an accomplished restaurateur. She let her ex & his mother walk all over her, but has 2 dads who would've backed her all day long. Just stupid.

The second half of the book saw her improve, though still thinking stupid a lot of the time.
