What Members Thought

Well this was my first adventure into Singh's style. I thought her world building was excellent. Angels and vampires living amongst us! Cool. The story of a rogue archangel on the loose kept me turning pages. Unfortunately the romance kept dragging the story down. I liked both the hero and heroine but didn't really care if they hooked up or not. The scenes of them together weren't all that smoldering and I would've preferred a fade to black rather than something lackluster. The other characters

I have to confess: I listened to this as an audiobook on my iPod - my first attempt at this format - and I kept losing concentration. I suspect as a result I have very little clue about the nuances of this book, apart from a few key *ahem* scenes which seemed to stick in my mind ;)

While I don't like the idea that the immortal beings called angels in this series are often so cruel it does give plenty of conflict to explore and overcome! Raphael and Elena are great characters, one so cold and bored with his existence, the other totally passionate and with a backbone of steel; pretty much the only mortal that won't bend to him. I also like the supporting characters like Illium and Dmitri, Sara and Ransom. I'm not sure if I would have felt like the ending was too cliffhangary

This was the second book of Nalini Singh's that I have read - and all I can say is WOW!!
This book brings a whole new spin on Vampires, Vampire Hunters and Angels - and it's refreshing to have vampires not at the top of the food-chain.
I had vague expectations that I'd enjoy it - but it has now become one of my top favorite series.
