Shelves: werewolves

After twists and turns and scratching of the head Moon Called ended up a pretty satisfying read. First of all, I really like Mercy. As a coyote shifter raised by werewolves she's had a difficult life and always felt like an outsider but it hasn't left her angry, bitter and broken. She's a smart capable heroine that's easy to root for. Mercy stands up for herself amongst the multitude of dominant males surrounding her and manages to do it without coming across and bossy and annoying. She's tough ...more

What a a great book!

Mercedes (Mercy) Thompson is a coyote shapeshifter, otherwise known as a walker. She has never met any before, but she does hang out with a lot of werewolf buddies, including her back-door neighbor Adam. One day Mercy comes across a lone wolf who is new and has wound up in a werewolf drug ring. Within a few days the lone wolf is dead and Adam's daughter has been kidnapped. Now Mercy is on the hunt to figure out who kidnapped Adam's daughter and why they did it.

Mercy is a tough take no BS shifter, who is drawn into a whole mess of trouble thanks initially to two werewolve guys in her life (Adam and Mac). Her character is quick-witted, savvy and remarkably normal.
What I enjoyed so much about this book is that Mercy isn't flawless, and that she doesn't instantly fall into mad unadulterated lust with the lead at the first moment of weakness.
