What Members Thought

Boudin Balls - made of Boudin (pork sausage, rice, Cajun spices) - remove the casing, roll it into balls and deep fry them.★★★★½ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Nicely narrated by Khristine Hvam, who is one of my favorite readers; I usually give her an excellent. However, I must admit, this is an earlier performance by her, and I think she is better as the story goes along (and she gets more into it?), as opposed to the beginning. Also, I did listen at 1.5 speed.![]()

It was ok but I think my opinion has been influenced by me reading it over number of days rather the than in one or two sessions like I normally do. If I had read it one session I probably would have liked it more.
I loved Jane's humour and her unusual situation with her Beast. My only real criticism is that sometimes I couldn't tell whose point of view was being expressed: Jane's or Beast's especially when they were conversing with one another.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. Jane is an interesting character. A skinwalker with no memories before the age of 12, but she carries a "beast" inside of her. She's also a kick-ass vampire slayer who takes a job for civilized vamps hunting a rogue vampire. The only thing that was really missing for me was a connection (or more of one) with one of the male characters. No romance here, but an interesting story for sure.

Meh this was a good book and I did like it. But and there is always one. This is a book that you have to put down for a while, or you are going to throw it across the room. My reason for this is all of the Cherokee language that is inserted into a lot of the dialogue. Nothing confuses your readers more than speaking a semi-dead language. The only reason I know some Cherokee is because my father is an ancestral enthusiast, but I didn't get any of that enthusiasm from this story. So I felt somewha

Quick-look at the Book
Jane Yellowrock is a...problem solver in a world populated by vamps, weres, and other supes. She has a witchy bff who has a family of her own. The first time we see her, she arrives in NOLA and is hired by a bordello owner to take care of a rogue vamp.
Thoughts on this Book
I like the complex vampiric politics that Jane has to maneuver through to get to her target. There are so many secrets to delve into, and most vamps tend to clam up rather than help her. I also like her a ...more

A very exciting first-in-series! Jane Yellowrock is a rather ambiguous character, and tough. She also has her "soft" side, but it's very carefully guarded. She has 10-days to hunt down a rogue vampire (will lose her bonus if it takes longer), and uses her unique skills to do so, with overly curious folks tracking her as well. The action is fast and interesting. The book's pace is just right, and the characters are well-developed and interesting, without being clear-cut good/bad-guys. Looking for

A new series, and a new author to me and it was surprisingly good. I'm not entirely sure why I kept putting off starting this series, but when there was an audible sale I took advantage and I am glad I did.
Jane is my kind of heroine: kick ass but not infallible, I loved a few of the secondary characters and I can't wait for them to spill their secrets. Angie is a total sweetheart. I enjoyed this so much I went straight on to book 2! ...more

Some parts of the book was confusing to me but for a book theme that I don't nessicarly read it was pretty good and it makes me want to continue in the series.
