Laura Thalassa has been on my list of authors to try for a while now. With the recent release of Death, the last book in the Four Horsemen series, I decided to hop right on the bandwagon.

I didn't have low expectations but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this story all the same. I think that it all comes down to Thalassa's very personal and honest storytelling. I fell right into this story with a desperate fervor. The plot of this book is really character-driven. I was enraptured 4.5/5 Stars

I didn't have low expectations but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this story all the same. I think that it all comes down to Thalassa's very personal and honest storytelling. I fell right into this story with a desperate fervor. The plot of this book is really character-driven. I was enraptured with these characters and both the internal and literal journeys that they go on. The world-building really impressed me in a lot of ways because the scenes were so realistic and vivid.

I loved Thalassa's portrayal of these characters. These characters were so realistic and enchanting. They jumped right off the page and came to life in my mind. I loved the amazing character development for these characters. Sara and Pestilence were characters that valued their personal identities and purposes. Seeing the author break down their walls to help them grow and change was awesome. There were a few secondary characters in the story that had a small part but a very big impact.

This is an enemies-to-lovers story that really packed an emotional punch. Sara and Pestilence both take personal journeys that are so raw and fraught with indecision. At the start of this story, they essentially think of each other as monsters but on their journey, they both find that there is more beneath the surface. Their close proximity and prolonged-time together shed light on their perceived notions about each other. As time passes their feelings grow and they eventually fall in love. Though falling in love is the easy part because they still have more trials ahead of them. The steamy scenes in the story were awesome because they were not only sexy but were filled with so much emotion. Pestilence was a hopeless romantic at heart and the things that he said to Sara really melted my heart time and again. His reverence of her was so genuine and beautiful.

Overall, this was a book that really blew me away. I really don't know how else to put it. If you love stories with a strong emotional journey, characters that will resonate with you, and storytelling that will capture your heart then this book will check all the boxes for you. I can't wait to continue this series with War's story!

I started and stopped this book several times, I still don’t know exactly how I feel about it.... it was dark but not in the traditional way I would describe a dark romance (no rape forced stuff etc) but the violent deaths were just very very disturbing to me ..... the writing was good, the hero totally redeemed although the point was that he didn’t need it... but I still walked away with a weird squeamishy feeling

Something different and amazing

This story just bowl me over. I have never felt so many emotions while reading just one book. Sometimes it became too overwhelming even. But i wanted to know the ending desperately! And now, War is coming soon and I cant wait.

The extra .5 just because of how fast it was to read and how entertaining I found it, though not for good reasons.

I am willing to overlook some morally wrong stuff in the name of enjoying a fantasy romance, but come on.
