I really hated this book. I have read S.M. Stirling before and enjoyed more than one of his books. This piece of trash I grudgingly finished in audio and almost lost my cookies a few times. This gets two stars due to Harvey's character who deserved much more face time. I kept hoping it would get better... It didn't. Personally the author comes across sexist. When I picked this up I thought it would be just another urban fantasy. Nope. This was, I don't know, urban fantasy with nasty little slugs floating about in it. I hate surprise rape. If this were a bodice ripper I could've handled it. But not only was there rape, it was the hero's "evil twn sister." And then the girl getting raped a) enjoyed it and b) didn't mind sleeping with the hero after he rescued her. No, just no. This was icky, squicky, wierd, and completely unrealistic. ...more
