I was waiting for a book to lift me out of my book slump. A book that grabbed my attention and took off.
HERE IT IS!
I loved this book. It's light science fiction at it's best. We have Devi Morris who is a tough-as-nails mercenary who takes a job on the most dangerous ship known in order to turbo-boost her career. This is a tough one to review.
I loved it - I didn't put it down at all yesterday - but at the same time I'm angry.
Because the only character I like is Devi now. Fuck Caldswell. I don't care what he's doing. Nothing can justify what he's done. And fuck Rupert. (view spoiler) And that's hard, because it seems likely that he's the hero, and I despise h ...more

Everyone told her it was too Dangerous signing up to be security on Captain Caldwell’s ship The Glorious Fool. Knowing it was the fastest way to get into the King’s Devastators she signed up for a year of service. If she survived (most of Caldwell’s Security teams didn’t) Caldwell would recommend her to the Devastators.
