This isn't really a new series but more of a continuation of the original Psy-Changeling series - if you haven't read the first 15 books, I don't recommend you starting here. Yes, we got a new changeling pack but most of the supporting characters are people who we had already met, including the heroine Silver Mercant.

Valentin is the alpha bear of one of the most powerful changelings pack in Russia. Before the book starts, he has set his eyes on Silver as his mate but she's Silent an **3.5 stars**

LIKES
✔ The Russian setting - there is really no need for every PNR/UF to be set in the US.
✔ The Bear personality - They love to party, they are easy going but so unpredictable! They are definitely different from the other changeling packs we've seen in past books.
✔ Valentin - what a loving guy! This was the kind of hero who wasn't afraid to love and so selfless, willing to be hurt to save the people he loved.

DISLIKES
✘ The plot was pretty much a recycling of several books in the Psy-Changeling series: "I must be Silent because if I feel, my terrible power will go out of control!!" The only good part about this was that the mating didn't solve the issue like in past books in the series.
✘ We didn't see the bears kicking ass: They were portrayed as teddy bears, only good for cuddling. There was just too much playing with cubs. Yeah, we got it that they are family oriented, need their alpha to touch them, bla, bla,bla but this didn't feel like a powerful pack. There were some allusion as to how dangerous they were but as we never saw their ruthless side, it didn't feel real. The only person who actually kicked ass in this book was Silver's grandmother! I mean, really!!
✘ This series is supposed to have more humans at the forefront but they saw very little time on the page. Yes, there was the issue with Bo and the Human Patriot but there were not new interesting human characters being introduced. I also wished that Max and Sophia (MCs from book #8 and the only Psy-Human pair in the series) would have gotten some time, as they will probably be very important to the whole Trinity premise.

Decent start to this "series" but I hope to see more action in future books.
