We meet Naomi Fallon as she's being driven to certain death out in the Mohave Desert at the hands of a Casino mafia goon squad. She's been using her ability to fritz the slots and taking money a little too often, despite the disguises.

Just so happens the goons drive down the road that a certain Breed lives on. Whilst not really wanting to get involved, he decides he has no choice. So Asher, rescues our fair damsel in distress, and takes her home. And he is really glad he did, eventually.

I really enjoyed this first book in the Midnight Breed spin-off series. Asher is a fairly typical Gen 1 breed vampire, but manages to fall for the grifter he stumbles upon. Naomie compliments Asher well, but could get annoying at times. I loved how she and her friend worked to make life better for young children. Looking forward to more from this series!
