There are no words for how amazing this book is! It sets up an incredible journey for so many characters, but it was so well executed I didn’t get lost with so many people to track. While the beginning of this trilogy hits way too close to home with the pandemic raging, it quickly became so much more. I appreciated the struggles and challenges each group of and individual characters had to face. This book certainly shows the best and worst of the human race. The comfort of a Roberts read along with an apocalyptic word populated by magic. Couldn't be better.

4 stars just because it skipped around a bit and I lost track of which characters were which. Also some didn't feel completely fleshed out or given enough time because there were so many. It was likely a length issue but I'd have liked more on them at the time.
