This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. One thing that I've learned about the author is that she's an expert at introducing new plot lines to a series. I had begun to hope that the Lijuan storyline was going to be put to rest while reading the previous installment. And it happened in this one albeit temporarily. What's more, the whole situation kinda takes a backseat to a new plot line. It was the heroine discovering that she still had family left on her mother's side and the search for them that dominated this book. So, while we do g One thing that I've learned about the author is that she's an expert at introducing new plot lines to a series. I had begun to hope that the Lijuan storyline was going to be put to rest while reading the previous installment. And it happened in this one albeit temporarily. What's more, the whole situation kinda takes a backseat to a new plot line. It was the heroine discovering that she still had family left on her mother's side and the search for them that dominated this book. So, while we do get something, we don't get what we expected. She does expertly introduce new plot points but that doesn't mean us readers don't catch on to the diversionary tactics.

By that, I mean an Illium and Aodhan book. Or, at least, the glimmers of a romance between them. Read the reviews by other readers of the Guild Hunter series and you'll see I'm not the only one who finds the chemistry between them to be strong and electric!

There was no resolution to the is Micheala preggers or not issue either. A new class -- for lack of a better word -- of angels is introduced. They are on the path to finding inner peace (she calls it luminescence). However, it has rot at its center and the arc is quickly settled in one book -- something this author almost never does. In a way, the series didn't progress much with this installment -- because this was a cleverly disguised filler book.

I also have suspicions that the author will drive a wedge between the main couple of the series in the subsequent books. All the inner monologues about how they can survive anything as long as the other is with them is making me think that's on the horizon. I hope not. For once, I'd like to see a couple in a UF series not lie and betray each other -- looking at you, Kate Daniels series!

We'll see how right I am when I review the next one.

Thoughts on the Series
A formulaic series with HEAs. It can get violent and dark though, but it can also get repetitive. I'd suggest spacing out the books--and there are a lot of them--for days when you need a certain happy ending.

I absolutely loved this one, we are back with Elena and Raphael and there is so much going on that it was hard to keep track at times. Lots of revelations about Elena's past and it answers a lot of questions. We are introduced to new characters that may become important later. Can't wait for the next one! ...more

Oh yeah it was good. And proof that true love can be a fantasy as well. More about love than sex. A lesson we should all learn. When you truly love a person you want them to be exactly who they are.
