Makenna, a lone wolf who is working as a volunteer at a shelter for others like her, is in charge of finding new homes for her charges. She is investigating her latest charge's family when she meets his uncle Ryan, enforcer for the Phoenix pack.

The two of them are immediately attracted to one another, but her status as a lone wolf is an obstacle in any relationship between them. That is until Ryan realizes that she's his mate, at which point he starts pursuing her, despite her misgivings.

You know I usually love all of Suzanne Wright's books, but this one fell flat for me. Don't get me wrong I still liked it to an extent, but this one has become my least favorite in her Phoenix Pack Series.

Upon reading SAVAGE URGES I had not read a book in the Phoenix Pack for a LONG TIME! The last books of Suzanne Wright's books that were released were all from her other series, so I had no clue who the hell Ryan was, but I quickly got refreshed. He was the quiet one. Savage Urges is the fifth book in the Phoenix Pack series, I recommend reading these and book 1 in the Mercury Pack series before reading this one but it's not essential.

This book changes our way of thinking about a lot of things, including the lone wolves. Makenna is a lone wolf who volunteers at a shelter for lone shifters, helping them find a safer alternative to whatever they are running from. Mmmm, what's not to love about Ryan? And happily, I loved Makenna. Her work at the shelter, her compassion and selflessness - but never to the point of TSTL - made her a fantastic compliment to Ryan.

Makenna Wray & Ryan Conner

This is my favorite of the series.

Makenna is a lone wolf. That's significant because there is a stigma associated with being a lone wolf. Wolves in packs assume that they are basically wolves who were banished for doing something wrong within their pack.

She volunteers at a shelter for lone wolves, a shelter that she herself ended up placed in after her mother was killed. One of her jobs at the shelter is rehoming the wolves who end up their.

It was another great addition to the series.

Ryan is one of the Phoenix Packs' Enforcers and is contacted by Makenna, a lone shifter, who works at the local rogue shifter shelter. No one at Phoenix even knew it existed.

However, Zac is 17 and the son of Ryan's cousin. Of course he wants to look after him and everyone at Phoenix is on board.
