The Benson is an old hotel in Portland, Oregon. It's one of those hotels with a history and a few ghosts, too. Perry and Dex investigate the ghost of Parker Hayden, a shipping magnate that was found hanged in the hotel's laundry room.

I love how the author captures the scary mood of the hotel. It's kind of like those old black and white movies where shadows and different layers of grayscale make the book so much scarier than it is. This is a scary book, without being gory. I also love the underl ...more

THE BENSON is a quick story about Dex and Perry shortly after the crazy events of RED FOX. Their relationship is a bit on shaky ground because feelings were stirred that have now gone back into hiding.

Dex brings Perry to Portland to film at the famously haunted Benson Hotel in Portland. Management thinks they won’t find anything, as many others have, so they are ok with letting them run around the hotel looking to be spooked.

This is a great little story that bridges book 2 and 3. Do not skip it! It had some absolutely wonderful and chilling scenes, plus Dex and Perry are awesome as always.
