I really enjoyed this - fantastic series starter, that doesn't get bogged down in worldbuilding. I'll admit that I had a hard time keeping track of the secondary characters (a lot of them felt pretty interchangeable), but it was alright despite that.
I loved Harper and Knox. I think getting stuff from his POV helped make him a much more palatable super-dominant alpha than I generally find this character type, so unlike a lot of Wright's heroes, I didn't hate him at first. He was arrogant, but hi ...more

I have the feeling I would have liked this book better if I had read it instead of listened to it. The narrator wasn't bad, but I don't think her interpretation was all that there could have been.
There are some new twists in Burn but they really didn't do it for me. Instead of 'mates', demons in this book have "anchors" or psychic partners that make them stronger. Burn is the first book of Suzanne Wright's that I've read (thanks to Sandra) and it won't be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed the demon-filled world she created and look forward to more!
Harper Wallis may be a member of the infamous Wallis family of imps, but she's not an imp - she's a sphinx without wings. She has an unusual ability that comes in handy when others mistakenly think she's easy prey.

A story set in a world inhabited by people with literal inner demons and anchors, aka the other half of their souls who once they are bonded, they allow them to control their demons better than they ever could on their own and also boosts their powers. The demons are loosely structured in lairs, where the strongest among them serves as their leader, aka Prime.

I really, really enjoyed the main characters Harper and Knox and I'm thrilled to learn the next book in the series continues to focus on them. The world of the Primes and the different species (imps, sphinxes, succubi, hellhounds, etc) was very interesting and that concept that you can have an anchor and a mate but the two are not necessarily the same person. The introduction of the secondary characters already have me jonesing for their stories as well.
