I don't read a lot of anthologies cover to cover but this one was pretty darn good. It helps that there were only 4 stories of decent length so you get more in depth with characters and plots than normal.

Secrets at Midnight by Nalini Singh - this was so much fun! I have only read the first Psy-Changeling book and I liked it but just never continued the series. This story reminded me that this is a world I want to dive back into sooner rather than later. Bastien and Kirby's story is super cute an I don't read a lot of anthologies cover to cover but this one was pretty darn good. And the writing was less flowery than I remember Singh's writing to be which was definitely a plus.

Magic Steals by Ilona Andrews - Loved it! I picked out the book pretty much for this short and it met and maybe exceeded my already high expectations. Sometimes I'm a little disappointed reading stories about side characters but I didn't miss Kate/Curran at all in the midst of Dali and Jim's story. Jim and Dali are awesome and now I want more of them! Dali's sticky note curses are so random and the whole car episode and Jim's reaction to it had me busting up. I might be a little in love with Jim after this story, everything about him is pretty amazing and it was nice to see some different sides to him.

Lucky Charms by Lisa Shearin - this is the first thing I've read by Shearin and really enjoyed it. The story is entertaining in a slightly over the top silly way. It was light hearted and humorous with a world different enough from other UFs to intrigue me. The main character was fine, but I feel like this would be a series where I would end up really loving all the supporting characters in her life. It's definitely a series I am interested in continuing.

The Beast of Blackmoor by Milla Vane - easily my least favorite of the four and seemed slightly out of place with the others. This is high fantasy, darker and bloodier, and some less than standard sexual situations including a slightly non-con feel. All totally fine but compared to the lighter UF stories that came before it, was unexpected. I may have enjoyed it more if it was part of a different anthology but I did think it was a bit slow and the sex scenes weren't bad but didn't seem to gel or flow with the rest of the story. I bought this for Singh's & Andrew's stories. Didn't even realize that Milla Vane is Meljean Brook. I'll review the stories in the order I read them, which is not the order they are printed in the book. I wanted to be sure to start and end on a high note. LOL.

I only read Nalini Singh Secrets at Midnight and Ilona Andrews Magic Steals. Both stories were great, I loved both stories but Magic Steals was hilarious.
