This book and series has quite a bit of potential. Great characters and an interesting set up. Midnight Crossroad is slow start, but with its assembly of misfits in an isolated setting tells a decent story. The main character of the Midnight, Texas series is a side character for the Harper Connelly series - Manfred. This novel in particular, is a continuation of Lily Bard novel, and a theme that Harris seems to like to write about - right wing rebel group acting on their violent politics. So in ...more

It was ok. I'm still debating on my star rating. I kind of feel I'm being too generous giving it 3 when it should probably be 2. Or 2 1/2.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but I just didn't like Fiji. Can't really explain why, and I really tried to like her, but I just really don't.

I wished Manfred was a little more visiony/psychic than he was, he would have been more interesting. He makes me think if a cold fish.

I do like Lemuel though. And Mr. Snuggly is awesome :)

Well, this was a big bag of "meh". Came across as unfocused and rambling which made it pretty hard to get through. Didn't have the magic that the Sookie Stackhouse series did for a while. Maybe I'll do a full review later...but I think you probably get the gist of how I felt about the book already ...more
