This book is a short easy read, although not the laugh-out-loud funny that it was advertised to be. It's called an "entertainment" book, almost a series of short stories revolving around the ever-challenged Professor Dr. Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld. The vignettes are amusing, some more than others, however I think it helps to be a bit older, and maybe a Brit at heart to appreciate them as written. I think this is my favorite series by the author. I love the characters in this book and find their "adventures" to be hilarious. The short chapters make this an easy book to read quickly and when you just have a few minutes.

Tried to read this book and just couldn't finish it. Maybe others have the same problem as the series hasn't continued like the others.

Portuguese Irregular Verbs marks the fourth series of Alexander McCall Smith from which I have read. I found this book to be more intentionally comedic than his other novels. The excellent narration by Paul Hecht certainly aided in my enjoyment and I think also added to the light comedy. This brand of humor is not for everyone, but I find myself wondering why this series is not as well known as others by McCall Smith.

Clever, humorous and very entertaining. I believe we all desire to be as important as the good Professor Dr. Von Ingelfeld believe's himself to be.
