This is a generous 3. It was an ok, but not great book. It's long, over 400 pages, mostly a fast read, as you can buzz over the high school locker room language. It was funny in spots, but had a gratuitous sad ending which felt tacked on. The plot is plodding, very little happens until the end (I.e. Last 30-40 pages), with a number of elements that don't quite add up. Rugby season is supposed to be a big part of the story, yet only 2 games are played from September-Thanksgiving. Also, what's the

I did not see "Winger" coming. I picked it up for a book discussion, and I am so glad I did.
I think the feel of the book can be described with the phrase, "Catastrophic Penis Injury."
I found myself laughing out loud throughout the entire book. Ryan Dean West was hilarious, and I loved his outlook on life. His various hotness scales, graphs and cartoons were great. I especially liked when he wrote what he thought Mrs. Singer said and then what she actually said.

I felt that this story was directly written with the target audience of younger teenage boys, but felt the content would not necessarily be appropriate for all. The fact that the main character was so young, and was introduced to so many older situations just didn't seem to fit. Some of the characters were more fully developed than others because of the way the story was narrated. Finally, the ending just left me sitting there saying, "really?" and thinking that the author just decided to throw

This is one of those audiobooks that gives audiobooks a bad name. Honestly, this story had so much potential but the awkward middle aged narrator coupled with how much I cannot fucking stand Ryan Dean made this one an ain't gonna finish for me. I can appreciate the voice of a teen boy in a sea of female protagonists in YA but, let's be real, our society puts a shitload of stock in the mindset of teen boys and I didn't need to read a poorly written book to feel like I could relate to them.
