What Members Thought

I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did. Perhaps the book contains some artistic and literary references that may be a bit beyond many teens, but if a reader enjoyed the book they may be inspired to find out more about Audubon's paintings or Bronte's Jane Eyre.

I was not sure if I was going to like this book after the first few chapter, but it turned out to be a good read. Very emotional at the end and a book i was happy to pick up. It is a story of a boy and pretty much how he finds himself in a world that seems to knock him down at every turn. I might pick up Wednesday Wars to see how Doug was first brought up.

I loved this book! I listened to the audio book, and the narration by Lincoln Hoppe was phenomenal. I loved the strong, authentic voice of main character Doug Swieteck. I loved accompanying him on his journey of self-discovery and growth. I'm not lying when I say Doug is a character that will stay with me for a long, long time. Terrific.

(inside joke :) He was such a sweet soul who just wanted to see his mother and friend Lil smile and draw his birds yet he had to deal with a father and a world who were cruel and unfriendly. I will add that I did not beli

I was hard to decide whether to put this on my Unforgettable character bookshelf or my Fav YA shelf. The narrator's voice is unique and compelling.
