I really did not like this novel. It was 670 pages of agony to read. I would never recommend it to anyone.

This book is beautifully written. It is very descriptive of boats and royalty/hierarchy. My favorite character is Ursus. If Victor Hugo had not written the very last chapter "Nay; On High!" then the whole story would have been completely different. SO much happens in that one final chapter. ...more
