What an absolute treat this book was. Lord of Scoundrels is like fine wine in that it's best savored and enjoyed to it's fullest. I did not want this book to end.

This, to me, is the greatest "battle of the sexes" book I've ever read. The banter between the leads is unparalleled. Chase's witty dialogue will have you laughing out loud, and Jessica and Dain's verbal sparing is pure genius. I read romance because I love male/female interactions, and after this book, the bar has certainly been raise What an absolute treat this book was. Lord Dain embodies the quintessential "tortured hero". The prologue had me so choked up I was wondering if I had the right book. I had heard LOS was so funny and I was at a loss in the beginning pages. Then Jessica enters and things are never the same again.....in Dain's life as well the reader's.

Jessica Trent, the woman whom I will compare all others to from here on out, made this book elite and "in a league all it's own". As a woman myself, I like to think that women have power in this world. To me, women have the power to heal, the power to nurture, the power to change lives. Through Jessica, Lord Dain's life is completely altered and transformed. The power that she wields over those around her is profound and impacting. She never manipulates to get the power, never abuses it, but confidently uses her gifts and strengths to "love the unlovable".

The passion that exists between these two can only be described as explosive. There are some scenes in this book that took my breath away. There is a scene where Dain takes Jessica outside against a wall....there is a scene where Dain takes Jessica in the library.....all are absolutely scorching. You feel the passion to the very tips of your toes!

This is a very witty book, but there are also very tender, moving parts. Emotions are fully explored and Jessica and Dain's relationship is never dull. Their fights are as compelling as their love scenes.

Lord of Scoundrel's is wildly accepted as the best romance novel out there. It's a title that is well deserved. ...more

Lord of Scoundrels (Scoundrels #3) by Loretta Chase

Beautifully crafted with an intensity that pulls at your heart strings; I was completely immersed in the story from the first word.

Dain, as dark a hero as they come, elicited my compassion. Jess, a woman who’s mental gymnastics knows no bounds; embodies character traits to which I aspire.

Rich, multi-dimensional characters, with fully-developed personal histories, warmly embrace you as their story unfolds.

Completely worthy of a five-star rating.

Overrated. Failed in my second attempt to finish it. I don't have patience for men like Dain, neither in real life nor in literature. I don't care if you have mommy issues, it doesn't give you the right to be so anal. The heroine was really smart and a breath of fresh air. She wasn't TSTL like most other HR heroines and so I didn't really understand why she was taking Dain's shit. ...more
