Reread January 2011

I've upped the stars for this book from 4 to 5. I can't even begin to say how much I am enjoying this series or this author's writing style.

I love all of the characters, especially Mac. I understand that many people absolutely loathe her character, but upon reading this book a second time, I really do love her character and while she is a little spoiled, a little rainbowish, and a little naive, the development of her character from the beginning of the book (Mac 1.0) to the

I can honestly say a book like this is a first for me. I'm traditionally a "romance" type of gal. While this book certainly has it's share of tiny tidbits of chemistry between the leads, it really has very little romance in it (so far:).

This is urban fantasy at it's finest. The world building in Darkfever is so intense and mesmerizing, that it sucks you right in. You are so immersed in this new world, that time suspends, pages fly by, and before you know it, you are left at the door of a cliffh

It pains me to say this but this book was *just ok* for me. I've had this on my TBR since forever! I will admit to my ignorance and say I didn't pick it up sooner because I always thought the series was YA, so it kept getting pushed back. Then someone explained to me that it's UF and it sparked my interest again.

So when we created the UTC Immortal Reading Challenge it seemed like it was finally time to read it as my fae books.

Now... the actual storyline was good, if I put aside the "sex

I really wanted to like his one because I love her Highlander series, but I just didn’t like the characters. The world building was wonderful and KMM’s imagination is definitely rich. I love all the lore and fantasy she weaves into her stories…. BUT the two main characters: MacKayla & Barrons were just not likable for me.

Mac is shallow, vain, immature and just plain annoying. Her character is mainly concerned with how her outfit matches her accessories even though she went to Ireland to find he

So i hated the first chapters..i just could not get it at all...however i continued due to some recommendations by some in my reading group, and i can honestly say i am loving it more as i move on.
The author is frustratingly GREAT!!!!...^_^

The world building and characters are unique to Karen Marie Moning

Barrons is insanely HAWT!!! (in-a-not-good-for-me-way) lol...or maybe he will as i read the next book hoping that SOME sexual release happens *crosses fingers*

4.5 STARS

I've had this book in my to be read pile for the longest time and for some reason or the other, I've just been putting it off. I've only read one other urban fantasy book, and unfortunately, that was an incredibly slow read which only deterred me from starting this book. But, I did give it a shot and I couldn't stop reading until I knew what happened to Mac.

I am genuinely looking forward to the development of Mac's character in the next few books, as well as the progression of her rela

One of the best books that I have read this year. The story is organic, branching off in many directions, giving the characters room to grow and struggle. The characters are interesting and intriguing, sometimes mysterious (Barrons!) and it leaves you wanting more. I couldn't put this book down and I was shocked to realize how long I had avoided reading it.

Just overall a fun, mysterous read! I can't wait until the second book arrives to continue on with the series!

Could not warm up to Mac. What a spoiled child. Only Barrons kept me reading. Plus, I really dislike books written in 1st person. However, now that I have started the series, I will continue on in hopes that Mac grows the hell up! I must say, I liked Moning's Highlander series much much better. ...more
