^^ YOU DON'T NEED A VEIL FOR THIS ONE^^
By far this book is the best when it comes to action and the introduction of new and twisted characters. Though this book doesn’t offer up the sensuality and sexiness of the previous books, it delivers with heart pounding menace and destructive action. Adrian brings terror knocking at the Breed’s door and shit just got personal.

I have to admit for some reason I wasn't expecting too much out of Nicko's book, but I was very happy with the end result. The overall plot didn't really move forward too much (we are more focused on the couple in this story). I really liked the female lead, Renata, probably one of my top picks out of all the Breedmates in the series so far. Her and Nicko's initial introduction to eachother was great (he was definitely blown away by her). I really liked how she is able to hold her own in combat

This book was the best of the series so far in my estimation. I liked that the plot dealth with a personal part of the battle and not so much with the war agains evil as a whole.
Nikolai seems kind of immature to me, and his falling in love with Renata does not seem very deep or complicated next to some of the other heros of his Order, but I liked the story nonetheless.
When he goofs up and does not share what he should, it harms her trust in him. I was kind of sad that she just took him back with ...more

Veil of is the perfect 3 star book for me. I liked it. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it.
This was Niko's book and I wish I could tell you that I knew him lots better after reading his book, but alas...I can not. This book has a ton more action and plot movement in it than previous books. Niko spends very little time with the Order as he is on a mission throughout this book. I wish we had been given a better look into Niko's life. What makes him tick? What did he love about Renata (other than ...more

This is Nikolai's 'Niko' book, he goes to Montreal to seek out a Gen One Sergei Yakut and it's there he meets Sergei's bodyguard Renata a breedmate who has the ability to render vampires unconsciouss with her psychic ability but suffers severe after-effects.
Renata cares for a young eight year old breedmate Mira who's eyes reflect the future both of them are pretty much Sergei's prisoners and threatens to kill either one if they attempt to leave him.

3.5 Stars. Don't know why I didn't like this as much as the first 4 books. It seemed to be missing something. & I don't feel the connection between Niko and Renata for some reasons. :-(
