★★★★✩ I liked this one, the second in the Psy-Changeling series; but not as much as the first. Don’t get me wrong; four stars are impressive. And I LOVE this author’s “voice”. I’m almost tempted to bump it up to 4½ stars. However, I had to put it down for a couple days. The “darkness” – or The Über Creep – that was plaguing Faith was a little too dark for me right now. I didn't like this one as much as the first in Singh's "Psy-Changeling" series. When I reviewed "Slave to Sensation" I mentioned that I found the Psy off-putting. What I meant was that they aren't all that compelling to me as romantic leads. That is, UNTIL they let go of the Silence that blocks all their emotions.

For the first 60% of this book I felt like I was just reading the first book with new characters in the lead. The last 40% saved this book from a three star. Until then we had the same I didn't like this one as much as the first in Singh's "Psy-Changeling" series. When I reviewed "Slave to Sensation" I mentioned that I found the Psy off-putting. What I meant was that they aren't all that compelling to me as romantic leads. That is, UNTIL they let go of the Silence that blocks all their emotions.

For the first 60% of this book I felt like I was just reading the first book with new characters in the lead. The last 40% saved this book from a three star. Until then we had the same set up. A psy who thinks she's going insane because she's having these unbidden feelings and desires. It isn't until Faith actually lets go that I can start giving a hoot about her and believing Vaughn's attraction is based on something real, but by then it's almost too late.

As I said, the last 40% picks up drastically. Finally we start moving on the plot. And it's a pretty good one, although yet another serial killer rehash. This one leaves behind the possibility that we could see this same problem again.

Reading the excerpt for the next book, "Caressed by Ice", I see we may actually get that kind of story line sooner rather than later. But at least the Psy involved has been with the Changelings for enough time that he isn't at square one, which is where we started with both Faith and Sascha.

Vaughn's a pretty good hero, except he didn't differ all that much from Lucas, IMO. Faith is fine, but again the story line mimicked what happened with Sascha so much that I wanted more.

There's some suspense and some violence, and of course some steamy sex. There is some interesting Pack development, too, as one of my favorite scenes in the book plays out the dominance and loyalty issue apart from the romance or Psy-Changeling plot. I liked that and I'm looking forward to seeing where it will lead.

Again -- the last 40% is quite good. The first 60% is unfortunately bland in light of the first book which I just read.

The strangest thing about liking this book so much is that neither Faith nor Vaughn are the type of characters that I normally enjoy reading about. They are both strong, but isolated.

Vaughn is a jaguar living among leopards. His past isn't very pretty and he is more animal than man. So when he is drawn to Faith, a F-psy, the attraction is incomprehensible, but that doesn't stop him. Singh's Psy-Changeling series is quite possibly the best paranormal/romance out there right now. With two in the series and one on the way (Caressed by Ice), it's fresh with an exciting futuristic world that little others have touched on. A world of the Extra Sensory Perception and Changlings (otherwise known as the "Were"), so incorporated into normal life, it has it's own set of rules to govern it.

In Visions of Heat, we have an off the scale Future Seeing Psy named Faith who can predict the fu Singh's Psy-Changeling series is quite possibly the best paranormal/romance out there right now. With two in the series and one on the way (Caressed by Ice), it's fresh with an exciting futuristic world that little others have touched on. A world of the Extra Sensory Perception and Changlings (otherwise known as the "Were"), so incorporated into normal life, it has it's own set of rules to govern it.

In Visions of Heat, we have an off the scale Future Seeing Psy named Faith who can predict the future with amazing accuracy. A member of the Psy race, she's not supposed to feel- emotions have been shut down under the cloak of the Silence- but when she starts having visions of death she can't help but feel the suffering about to come down . In anguish not only from the visions but also for fear of her mental stability she decides to take control.

Before the governing council of the Psy shut her down- permanently- she leaves her secluded compound to seek out Sascha Duncan- a female member of the Psy race who dropped out of the PsyNet (Whose story is in Slave to Sensation), something unheard of up until now. Sascha is now part of the Changlings, mated with a wereleopard and alpha to the DarkRiver pack.

Before she finds Sascha, Faith meets Vaughn, a steely Werepanther from Sascha's pack, who begins to make her feel other things that at first is difficult for her to process. He leads her to Sascha and it doesn't take them long to discover a new menace is on the scene- one created from the same sickness that has infiltrated the PsyNet that created the menacing serial killer that once hunted the changlings in Slave to Sensation.

As they get closer to the new menace, Vaughn and Faith find themselves becoming closer as well. When Faith is finally able to realize that the people she trusted all her life are not quite what they seem, she makes a final break that brings her into a new world she never imagined possible.

Full of action and steamy sensuality, Visions of Heat is a page turner that grabs you and doesn't let go until the end.

I don't know why I read these. And unlike the Brotherhood, I don't even like these. My eyes still glaze over when I read anything that has to do with the compartments and apartments of the mind. I can't help it, it's hard to even imagine brain vaults. I still can't see how they can think freely while having someone in their head and the person not hear what they're thinking.

For some reason she has a lot of sass. A lot. And she's tough. What happened to the weakling who forgot to eat unless someone told her? Hmmmm?

Vaughn is sad/mad/tortured. He is tough because he's a sentinel and he's a beast. But once he meets Faith you find he ain't so tough after all. He's an artist! An honest to goodness tell so and so his piece is ready artist. I think I would have believed it if he had a gift for rebuilding classic engines. Or maybe a sculptor of enemy faces. Hahaha. Get it? Because he beats them up. He makes their face change with his punches or bites. Hahaha. You get it now? Anywho, he's more beast than man and he's proud of it. He reminds me of Lucas (Alpha from the first book).

Synopsis is pretty much the same as in the first book. Cat loves Psy. Psy pretends to not have emotion. There's a bad Psy somewhere, gasp, killing. Psy doesn't believe Cat. Cat thinks they're (Psy) all bad. Psy says thems my peoples. Psy loves cat back. Psy becomes Pack. (Though in this one Psy conveniently earns Pack trust) Bad guy gets caught and is dealt with in a very glossed over manner. Council broods and plots.

I do like Faith and Vaughn together. They are really in love. He fell in love really fast. It was weird seeing how much everyone accepted his change so well. And no one ever explained the mating bond or the blood bond! Don't think I've forgotten that neither was explained in the first book, unless I missed it. In that case, please ignore. And am I the one that screams get a room with all the groping they do. Everywhere. Especially when talking with others.

I don't know if I'll read the next book or not. There are other characters being introduced so I know it won't always be the same. I gave it two stars but I didn't hate it. I didn't not like it, but I didn't like it. Wishy-washy me will likely read more books in this series. At least I'm consistent! ...more

She’s having visions of a menacing darkness thirsting for blood and murder. Then her sister is murdered in the e Faith NightStar is a powerful F-Psy for the PsyClan with the ability to foresee the future. She is their most valued possession literally worth billions with her accurate predictions of business trends. However, she has started to have visions of a different kind which have led her to question the order of her life and the conditioning known as Silence she has adhered to all her life. She’s having visions of a menacing darkness thirsting for blood and murder. Then her sister is murdered in the exact manner of one of her visions. Faith begins to venture outside her compound to investigate more, but on the outside of her secluded and highly secure home, a jaguar is slowly stalking and drawing ever nearer.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. I liked it a lot more than Slave to Sensation. I found Vaughn infinitely more appealing and sexy. I actually love everything about Jaguars. The cars; so sleek, sexy and classy, and the animal; so big, primal, and deadly. Though I had difficulties again following the way the PsyNet works and all the language etc., I’m muddling through it. I think someone who is much smarter than I should write a Psy/Changeling Guide for Dummies. I get enough of it to equate it with the internet and hacking and viruses etc, but I’m not that technologically savvy. However, despite this, the story is engaging, sexy and very exciting to read.

I loved Vaughn as our jaguar hero. His extreme possessiveness of Faith was actually sort of yummy and his need for her surprising (for him) and romantic to watch. The deadly, stoic, invincible and loner jaguar was brought down by a little emotionless Psy. It was great reading watching his need grow and his coaxing the feeling out of Faith. I love the contrast in characters that Nalini has created with this series. The cold vs. the hot essentially and it always creates some monumental steam.

In terms of steam, I only wish that we got just a bit more, just a little bit. I’m really eager to find out the difference between a Psy woman and a Psy man – so thankfully Judd’s book is next. I’m anxious to see how the dynamic of his needs/wants will manifest. Will he coldly desire her only, or will he let go of the conditioning of Silence and feel emotions??

I am getting more intrigue by this series.. Just getting more curious about the next story about the Psy and the Changeling's world.. It is very fascinating.
