My brain's too scrambled to write a proper review (ZOMG SUNSHINE WHEEEEEEE), so a bullet list it is:

Awesome:

- No fated mates
- EVERYONE's race is mentioned. None of that "white's the default" crap. Also, the non-white characters aren't sidekicks or comic relief. THANK YOU!
- Vampire hunter heroine is not a killer driven by hatred. She's returning wayward vampires to their angel masters. Really the whole "racism is bad" device had been beat to death in paranormals/UF.
- Plot is smooth, evenly paced ...more

Ok, seriously, I absolutely loved this book. It was everything I ever wanted in a PNR/UF; Angels, Archangels, Vampires, Hunters, blood, violence, action, romance and sex. Not only did it have all my favorite elements, but an amazing cast and intriguing plot. I am so digging this series more than Ms. Singh's Psy-Changeling stuff (which was neat, but this is so much sexier - ANGELS and VAMPIRES)

The heroine, Elena is a Guild Hunter, aka. vampire hunter who doesn't kill vampires, but captures and de Ok, seriously, I absolutely loved this book. It was everything I ever wanted in a PNR/UF; Angels, Archangels, Vampires, Hunters, blood, violence, action, romance and sex. The heroine, Elena is a Guild Hunter, aka. vampire hunter who doesn't kill vampires, but captures and delivers them to their Angel masters. Already, I love the world building with Angels at the top of the world, creating vampires for some god-forsaken reason. She gets a job from an Archangel (not just a plain old Angel, but the big dog in the pack), Raphael, to help him find another Archangel, who supposedly turned bad. At first meeting, Elena and Raphael's chemistry is explosive. Considering that he was an Archangel, I even wondered why Ms. Singh made their interaction so amazing, thinking that the heroine could never be actually paired with him. Well, clearly, I was wrong. Raphael is our one and only hero, though he does have a sexy vampire 2nd in command named Dimitri *fans self*. Anyway, they hunt for the fallen archangel, have some sexy time, save the world and NEARLY die. Of course, they have a sorta HEA, until the next part in the series.

First of all, the world-building was amazing. Since I have nothing else to say on that note, I must continue to the characters. I really enjoyed Elena as the heroine. She was very likeable though I doubt I would ever choose to do the things she does. Her father sucks though. Raphael is so sexy. I fell in love with him despite the weird ways his mind worked. All the secondary characters were great. Lots of grey characters, a few whites and one seriously black-hearted archangel (well, he's the villain). Sarah and Ransom, the pair of interesting friend/family of Elena, are well-developed with readers yearning for a bit of their stories. Like Sarah and her husband, Deccan, and Ransom and his sexy little librarian. Seriously, I want more. Dimitri is clearly a favorite of mine. I want him for myself, really. And Illium... I want him too, actually. Can I really have both? Michaela was interesting. As an Archangel, I don't think she's more wrapped than the other members of the Cadre, but she's pretty messed up.

Overall, I loved this book and highly recommend it. I'm not even so sure why I hadn't read this earlier (since one of my good friends already recommended it to me), but its so good.

I kind of liked this one. I think it's the first book I've read dealing with angels. It was a fun and different read.

I honestly didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to because the main girl, Ellie, annoyed me. Her tough girl thing just grated on my nerves so much I wanted to quit reading. But I didn't, and I'm glad.

I was pleasantly surprised. Singh just has this way of creating very compelling characters that always leave me wanting to know more. The plot was weird and sort of thin in the beginning but I liked Elena and Raphael so much I didn't let it bother me too much. I've already picked up book #2 and look forward to reading it. ...more
