Great new idea for a paranormal series! Obviously, it's not brand new, but it's new to me, and I loved it! I love that Elena is a tough girl who can't quite seem to turn off her emotions. So she's prickly and vulnerable at the same time. These contradictions are what draws the archangel Raphael to her. Well, that and her awesomeness at being a vampire hunter. But that awesomeness is soon overlooked in light of what a genuinely good person she is. Raphael has lived so long that he no longer knows ...more

Artist: Ni Anluain. Inspired by Nalini Singh's character Archangel Raphael

★★★★✩ I read Angels' Pawn first, thinking it a prequel, when really it is just a companion novella to Angels' Blood. For me, this was a disadvantage; while I loved Elena in this story, Raphael was not a very likeable character in that one, IMHO, and I wondered not how, but if Ms. Singh was going to be able to covert me to a Raphael fan. She did, but the going was rough.

I liked the story and was glad I finished it. In a

Wow!! What an awesome beginning to the series. The summary on the back doesn't really prepare you for just how good the story is. I could kick myself for waiting so long to pick it up. It is a darker, sexier series then NS's Psy series. I love Ellie and Raphael as a couple and their sparks were tremendous. I am also a sucker for bathtub lovescenes. ;-) I just didn't see how their relationship could be balanced. The longer the story went on, I felt that Elena was as strong as Raphael, but in a di ...more

I've heard great things about Nalini Singh as a writer, and this is the first book of hers I've read. It was a little hard to get into but after the first 30 pages or so I didn't want to put it down. I took a small break and then I finished the rest of the book in one sitting.

I liked Elena's strong-willed, stubbornness, and courage. She doesn't take any crap from anyone, even if she

When Elena gets called up for a job, she is excited until she finds out just who she will be working for. Their building is the place she looks up at, dreaming about what is must be like, now faced with the chance of finally getting to know, she decided to take a chance and if all else fails go out in a blaze of glory.

With a archangel on the verge, another must seek help. But not in the way you think, he must be taken down before it gets worse and Raphael makes the choice to bring in the vampir

My brain's too scrambled to write a proper review (ZOMG SUNSHINE WHEEEEEEE), so a bullet list it is:

Awesome:

- No fated mates
- EVERYONE's race is mentioned. None of that "white's the default" crap. Also, the non-white characters aren't sidekicks or comic relief. THANK YOU!
- Vampire hunter heroine is not a killer driven by hatred. She's returning wayward vampires to their angel masters. Really the whole "racism is bad" device had been beat to death in paranormals/UF.
- Plot is smooth, evenly paced

I am a little torn in my opinion of this book. I am a certainly a fan of Nalini Signh's work, even her earlier non-paranormal works. This new series, however, is WAY too dark for me. I have a hard time dealing with extreme violence and this book had it in spades. There was tons of blood, guts, and gore, which is not in my comfort zone. In addition, the book focuses much more on the action/story arc than the romance. As a die-hard romance fan, I was a little disappointed in this. The hero is an a ...more

I kind of liked this one. I think it's the first book I've read dealing with angels. It was a fun and different read.

I honestly didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to because the main girl, Ellie, annoyed me. Her tough girl thing just grated on my nerves so much I wanted to quit reading. But I didn't, and I'm glad.

This book was kind of.... ummmmm.... *blushes* steamy. Ummmmm, wasn't expecting that. It was kind of weird at times because they would be talking like everything was ok, but they'd al

When I first started this I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I have to say that I was very surprised. Elena is strong and doesn't put up with anything that they try on her. At time I think that she is a bit to stubborn but that is also a good thing considering what and who she is dealing with. I loved Raphael the fact that he doesn't really understand what the attraction he is feeling is or the fact that he does things and then regrets them makes seem more real at least to me it did. I have ...more

I haven't read a book so new and refreshing in a while. The idea that angels live and love along side us is fascinating. The relationship between Elena Deveraux and the archangel Raphael are turbulent and steamy all at once. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. It was a wonderful read. And I've already snapped up the next novel. At least it just came out so I didn't have to wait. This book is so good I hope there are plenty more where this came from. Now go out and hurry up and buy i ...more

25/2/21 - This is a 3rd read if memory serves me correctly and technically it was an audio book so I'm not sure read applies. Stuck in lockdown, my only outlet escape of daily humdrum is walking, getting away from it all for a little while and this has been the perfect companion for that. I loved re-visiting Elena and her arch angel. Listening and absorbing while visually being distracted is multi tasking too far for me, I miss all the details and nuances but having read this previously, it was ...more
