Ooohhh!!! Yummily sexy cover! That was my first reaction. ^_^ Seriously. Love the covers in this series.
The Darkest Night, the first book of the Lords of the Underworld series, is my first Gena Showalter book. I really liked it but wasn’t completely captured by it. I haven’t been hooked yet like I am with J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood. I’m putting it out there – I just LOOOVVEEE those Brothers!!! Okay? Bias, outted. Though, to be fair, I wasn’t completely addicted to the BDB unti ...more

i liked this book for what it was but i really thought it was unoriginal, maybe because of all the books i read with a tortured hero and instant love i am more critical of books like these but to tell the truth it was good but it wasn't great.

Rating is somewhere between a 2 and 3, but since I'm feeling vague and generous tonight, up to a 3 it goes.

The book started off much differently then it ended, or at least how I was expecting it to end.
The beginning gave the impression it was going to be a Black Dagger Brotherhood and then steadily slipped into a rather typical romance novel.
The characters devolved into less likable stereo types and the story became rather wishy washy.
I will certainly try the next, but if the quality doesn't improve I doubt I will continue. ...more
