Wow. I’m so glad I persevered with this series. You were all right. Mac does get better (much, much better!) and the series is shaping up to be awesome, just like you all said it was.

I’m completely and utterly invested in this story. I’m in awe of the author’s imagination and the way she has crafted this complex tale – so full of mystery, intrigue, suspense and action, not to mention the myriad twists and turns.

And Barrons. Ah Barrons. Has there ever been a more enigmatic character? Who ...more

Thank God that I didn’t read this book when it first came out because at the end, there is a magnificently mind-blowing cliff-hanger that would have me cursing at the stars!!! The book was just so blazingly hot with all its seedy and courageous characters, each cavorting with their own agenda to adher to. We again encounter Mac, a null sidhe-seer, trying to find that damn dark book, The Sinsar Duhb, which causes excrutiating pain to her head while totally debilitating her powers when it is near. Thank God that I didn’t read this book when it first came out because at the end, there is a magnificently mind-blowing cliff-hanger that would have me cursing at the stars!!! The book was just so blazingly hot with all its seedy and courageous characters, each cavorting with their own agenda to adher to. We again encounter Mac, a null sidhe-seer, trying to find that damn dark book, The Sinsar Duhb, which causes excrutiating pain to her head while totally debilitating her powers when it is near. It is constantly on the prowl...just where it will turn up next, is the question. And where is her protector, the handsomely hot and evasive Jericho Barrons? Why right where he has been since Mac arrived in Dublin, fighting along side her and bailing her ass out of beastly situations. Mac still is wondering exactly what is Barrons and how he’s involved in the fae/human crisis. He seems to be rich...just look at his extravagant selection of cars, the fact that he is sole owner of his bookstore (Barrons Books and Baubles), along with his passion to collect antiques. The man is rolling in it!!! But, there is something that Barrons is hiding, and Mac wants to know what that is. Mac’s whole pink and cheery womanlike persona has changed. Gone are the beautiful playful skirts and high-heeled shoes, replaced by dark-colored clothing and comfortable shoes made for fighting monsters and psychotic rogues. While investigating her sister's demise, she also meets Christian, a Scottish Druid, who worked where her sister, Alina, went to college. Christian’s heritage is impressive. He is part of a family that protects the walls that separate the fae world and the human world. V’lane, the sex-by-association Seeley prince, is still around flaunting his erotic magnetism when tangling with Mac. And let’s not forget the Lord Master...the person Mac holds responsible for Alina’s death. Mac still has an eye on him, and is just waiting for the right moment to pounce on the sucker. Encountering the jerk is high on her to-do list, but at what price will Mac pay for that soon-to-be barbaric meeting. That’s the disturbing and elicit cliff-hanger at the end of the novel that has everyone mad and also in disbelief as to how Mac will recover after such a brutal and mind-altering attack. So, glad that I waited to read this series when its near the author’s completion. It was just scintillatingly exciting! Next up, Dreamfever, Book 4 in the amazing Fever Series...can’t wait!!! ...more

Burned through this one in one afternoon. There are no slow spots, and Mac's world continues to grow steadily worse. The ending is a doozy, and I immediately rushed to download the 4th one.

Great series. Dark and disturbing and sticks with you. There's a few flashes of lightness in this one, though, which was nice to see rather than just GRIM GRIM GRIMMITY GRIM all the time. ...more

I really enjoyed the first two books. I have no problem with the use of violence in the context of a storyline. But this one took things a little too far over the edge for me.
