Electric! The tension, the suspense, the momentum towards the collision of fear and the monster. Tess Gerritsen doesn't spare the reader one moment of unfettered relaxation. It is, of course, pertinent to remember that before Tess Gerritsen became an author, she was a practicing surgeon, as she never flinches from the graphic descriptions that accompany such things as evisceration. It is the attention to detail and not sparing the reader any messiness that makes reading one of Gerritsen's books Electric! The tension, the suspense, the momentum towards the collision of fear and the monster. Tess Gerritsen doesn't spare the reader one moment of unfettered relaxation. It is, of course, pertinent to remember that before Tess Gerritsen became an author, she was a practicing surgeon, as she never flinches from the graphic descriptions that accompany such things as evisceration. It is the attention to detail and not sparing the reader any messiness that makes reading one of Gerritsen's books so gripping. At the end of Die Again, I felt like I had to remind myself to breathe. Gripping indeed.

Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles begin a case which will take them to the continent of Africa and back in the house of a famous taxidermist named Leon Gott. He has been hung from the rafters of his garage upside down and eviscerated. His most recent job to prepare a rare snow leopard that had to be euthanized at the local zoo takes Jane and Maura into the world of big cats and possible motives from animal lovers and critics of his other passion, hunting and mounting wild animals for his own mass collection. But who would have the knowledge and rage to kill the man in such a gruesome manner? And, why are there claw marks on the victim's rib cage?

The case quickly becomes complicated by the murder of his dead son's former girlfriend on the same night. To determine how the two murders are connected and who committed them will require an investigation into what happened to the son who was murdered on a bush safari in Africa six years prior. Oh, if that were the only complication, but connections with past disappearances and murders in wilderness areas of different states start popping up, too. Maura must convince Jane and other detectives that forensic evidence points to a common murderer who is as dangerous as any wild animal who stalks its prey. The key to the case may be found in the one victim who lived in the African killings.

Tess Gerritsen structures this story with the narration being location driven, and thus provides for a thriller burning at both ends, racing towards the middle where the explosion of revelation and resolution has the reader spellbound. There is evil in the world, and once again Rizzoli and Isles work feverishly to contain it. ...more

Die Again reminds me of why I love the writing of Tess Gerritsen. I lost interest in the TV show early on. I'm glad the show is doing well, but the books have so much more depth than is possible to convey in a 45 minute episode.

What I continue to be most impressed with is Tess's ability to explore new territory. The diversity of subjects in the Rizzoli & Isles Series is fascinating. I hope to see many more books in the series. ...more

Macabre, somewhat bizarre, not a page-turner or a compelling read. Found the trials of Millie of interest but the details of villain’s backstory were never sufficiently developed.

Another great book in the Rizzoli and Isles series, this one taking place in Boston and Africa, a great story with great characters, a top read 10/10.
