Conrad's prose really makes you feel like your entering some primitive jungle of the mind. It's an incredibly atmospheric piece for being only 70 pages long. You can almost feel the dark heart of the jungle sweeping over you as you read it.

I had tried to read this book before, but reading nonfiction about the Belgian Congo allowed me to better understand it. Apocalypse Now has always been one of my favorite movies and I enjoyed thinking through how the novel was used to structure the movie.
