This book might be a little glum, but it goes so well with cocoa and a warm blanket. Why? A non-comprehensive list:

This book caught me a little off guard! From the first few pages I was expecting a twee little tale of magical cakes and the powers they bestow on the people of Carmine. But I soon discovered there was much more to this story and I couldn't put it down!

Lovely cover, and the plot sounds interesting, but I HATED The Paper Magician so I think I will have to pass to avoid future disappointment.

I am seriously disappointed in this book, or rather the conveyance of this book.
I was expecting (thanks to the blurb on the back) magic and cake and a winding love story. What I got was....cake...yes, cake is good, but....then I got a whole lot of "what in the world did I just read?" mentality. THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE BOOK.
